WAR AWARENESS data is compiled by Pat Kneisler, co-founder of Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, & Evan D., historian and researcher, and presented here by NCNC Websteward Roger Straw. Special thanks to Piotr S. in Poland and Gary Dee in Central Europe. Chet Borowski of Coalition Memorial also shares info and photos.

DAILY NEWS LOGS
A THREE MONTH "SNAPSHOT"

Accurate numbers are not available on Iraqi and Afghani deaths. So For three months, we "spot-checked" the daily news, adding together ALL of the dead and wounded in both wars, every single day. The result was astounding. Most of us are not aware of the EXTENT of violence in Afghanistan and Iraq. Our daily news snapshots documented an average of 2,813 dead and 2,720 wounded EACH MONTH, (averaging 92 dead and 89 wounded EVERY SINGLE DAY), July-September, 2006, ALL the casualties, both wars, without regard to nationality.

Our Daily News Logs tracked many but surely not all of the stories of the dead and wounded, all nationalities, both wars: Afghanis, Iraqis, and Coalition military and support personnel, as compiled by Evan D.  We know of no other source that totals the carnage of all nationalities in both wars.

Note: These news reports may overlap in some cases. We've done our best to count a casualty only once. Where vague reports suggest "many" "some" or "several" we count a minimum of 2.
