Note: These news reports overlap in some cases. We've done our best to count a casualty only once. Where vague reports suggest "many" "some" or "several" we count a minimum of 2. These logs were compiled by Evan D. The following news links were compiled by Evan D.

IRAQ
Baghdad:
#1: At least 24 people were killed when a roadside bomb went off at Baghdad's largest and oldest wholesale market district, said police Lts. Mohammed Khayoun and Bilal Ali Majid. The Shurja commercial center, with its maze of streets and stalls, is usually teeming with vendors selling everything from satellite dishes to spices. Thirty-five people were wounded in the attack. (updated) In Baghdad, 26 Iraqis were killed and 56 wounded Wednesday morning when a bomb exploded in a busy central marketplace and another car bomb exploded near a gas station, police sources and witnesses said.	26	56
#2: In Wednesday's other attack, three police officers were killed and 14 people were injured when twin bombs _ including one planted in a car _ struck a police patrol as it drove by a line of vehicles waiting in a line for gas at a filling station in downtown Baghdad.	3	14
#3: A bomb in the nearby Karrada district killed two people and wounded 21 around the same time.	2	21
#4: Meanwhile, a medic in the city's Yarmuk hospital said "We received this morning the body of a first lieutenant in the Iraqi army and the bodies of two gunmen killed in clashes in Dura this morning."	3

Dinwaniyah:
#1: (updated from Tuesdays count of 29 killed) Scavengers siphoning gasoline from a pipeline in the southern city of Ad-Diwaniyah caused an explosion Tuesday that killed 50 people and wounded 80, officials said, and a visiting Bush administration official said Iraq's future depended on its ability to enforce the rule of law but that it must set its own legal standards.
The death toll of a fuel pipeline explosion in southern Iraq city of Diwaniyah rose to 74, a local police source told Xinhua on Tuesday. Another 94 people were injured when the fuel pipeline caught fire following an explosion in Diwaniyah city, some 170 km south of Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity. #3: (update on deaths of 12) Gunmen "executed" 13 Iraqi soldiers after their ammunition ran out during fierce clashes in the town of Diwaniya, south of Baghdad, Iraq's defence minister said on Wednesday. The 12-hour gun battle on Monday was among the bloodiest between Iraqi government forces and Shi'ite militiamen. The Defence Ministry had said 20 of its soldiers were killed.
Baqubah:
#1: (w. of) A civilian was killed when he was attacked by unknown gunmen in the Gaton area west of Baquba, the statement added.	1

#1: A sixteenth civilian was also killed and his son wounded in Abu Seida town northeast of Baquba, by unknown gunmen, the office added.	1
Buheiz:
#1: "A roadside bomb struck a minivan in the town of Buheiz near Baquba, killing six people, including three women and a child and wounding two other women," the office said in a statement.	6	2
Balad Ruz:
#1: Meanwhile, four policemen were killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb hit a passing police patrol in the Balad Ruz town, eastern Baquba, the office said.	4	1
Maqdadiyah:
#1: Another roadside bomb hit a passing police patrol in Maqdadiyah, some 100 km northeast of Baghdad, killing three civilians and wounding ten others, including three policemen, said the office, based in Baquba, in separate statement.	3	10
Badra:
#1: Two border guards, including a captain, were killed in Badra, a town east of Baghdad near the Iranian border, after their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, border guards said.	2
Tikrit:
#1: A 39-year-old military contractor from [Orlando FL] was killed in Iraq when his armored vehicle hit a land mine, officials said, just days before he was to return home. Carey Robinson died Monday north of Tikrit, where he was guarding colleagues looking for munitions that could be used by Iraqi insurgents to make explosives, said Andrea Takash, a spokeswoman for the Army Corps of Engineers. Robinson loved his job with EOD Technology of Lenoir City, Tenn., and did well, said his brother, Andre Vidrine.			1
Hilla:
#1: In central Hillah, about 60 miles south of Baghdad, a man posing as a potential army recruit detonated an explosives-rigged bicycle outside an army recruiting center, killing 12 people and wounding 28, said police Lt. Osama Ahmed.	12	28
The man who parked the bicycle walked away.
Samawa:
#1: A large group of men responding to a newspaper advert for army recruits rioted outside the governor's office in Samawa, 270 km (170 miles) south of Baghdad, after being told to come back at the weekend, a witness said. The witness said the police initially fired warning shots and then shot into the crowd after they began throwing rocks at the building, killing one man and wounding five. Three policemen were injured in the riot.	(see below)
Clashes between Iraqi police and civilians turned away from an army recruitment centre killed one civilian and wounded nine, including five policemen. Iraqi police said hundreds hoping to land jobs turned violent after they were turned away and threw rocks at policemen, who fired at the crowd.	1	9
Numaniya:
#1: In Numaniya, a town 120 km (70 miles) south of Baghdad, gunmen killed three Shi'ite brothers who had previously fled a Sunni region further north. Thousands of Iraqis have fled their homes since the bombing of a Shi'ite shrine in February unleashed a wave a sectarian killings and reprisals.	3
#2: Police said they found a body, bearing signs of torture, in a river near the town of Numaniya.	1
Kut:
#1: Another Iraqi army officer was killed and two wounded in a roadside bombing between the central city of Kut and Baghdad, police said.	1	2
And in the outskirts of Kut, officials say an Iraqi army major was killed when his car rolled over a roadside bomb.	1
Basra:
#1: Meanwhile, security sources said a number of British soldiers were wounded Tuesday night when their vehicle was struck by an explosive device in Basra. The sources said the device planted by the side of the road near Basra's al-Kaziza bridge was detonated as a British army patrol drove by, seriously damaging the vehicle and wounding an unspecified number of British soldiers inside.				2
Mosul:
#1: Clashes between Iraqi police and insurgents wounded four civilian bystanders in the northern city of Mosul, police said.		4
A civilian driving in his car in northern Mosul was apparently shot and killed by American troops who opened fire when the man's vehicle came too close to them.	1
Kirkuk:
#1: An explosion inside a bus killed three people and wounded 11 in the northern city of Kirkuk, including a man who had left the bomb inside the vehicle but failed to make a swift exit, police and witnesses said.	3	11
Fallujah:
#1: The body of a civilian was found three days after he was kidnapped by militants in the former insurgent stronghold of Falluja, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad, police said. The body bore signs of torture.	1
Qaim:
#1: Police in the western Iraqi town of Qaim said they found the bodies of two civilians with gunshot wounds to the head and torture marks. It was unclear who the victims were but tribes that control Qaim regularly clash with al Qaeda militants in the region.	2
Kuwaiti border:
#1: Kuwait summoned an Iraqi envoy yesterday to express dismay over a border shooting incident this week by "armed elements" in Iraq on a Kuwaiti border patrol, state media said. Kuwaiti security sources said unidentified gunmen in Iraq had opened fire randomly at a Kuwaiti border patrol on Monday.

#1: The U-S-led coalition says coalition troops killed 18 of those suspects, after dozens of insurgents attacked the troops in a southern province. It says three insurgents were killed instantly, and 15 others died following a gunfight. The statement says no coalition troops were injured.	18
#2: Also today, a suicide car bomber struck a NATO and Afghan military convoy, killing two civilians and injuring one. And an official says a remote-controlled bomb in Helmand province killed two police on patrol.	2	1
#3: A clash between Taliban-linked militants and Afghan police in Afghanistan's southern Ghazni province claimed the lives of two suspected insurgents and wounded three others, provincial police chief Tafsil Khan Khogyani said Wednesday. "The incident took place in Mehman Qala village of Andar district when the insurgents raided a police checkpoint Tuesday. The police returned fire, killing two rebels on the spot and wounded three others," Khogyani told Xinhua. There were no casualties on the police side. Meanwhile, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, who claims to speak for the Taliban, rejected Khogyani's claim, saying two policemen were killed in the firefight.	2	3
#4: Afghan police have found the body of Mohammad Yunus, a former Afghan commander, in Afghanistan's eastern Nooristan province, a local newspaper said Wednesday. Yunus, who served as commander of Hekmatyar-led Islamic party the Hizb-e-Islami in war against the former Soviet Union and recently established local militia force to support President Karzai's government, was kidnapped with his two bodyguards in his home province Nooristan on Aug. 20.	1
