Note: These news reports overlap in some cases. We've done our best to count a casualty only once. Where vague reports suggest "many" "some" or "several" we count a minimum of 2. These logs were compiled by Evan D. The following news links were compiled by Evan D.

#1: A mortar barrage followed minutes later by a car bomb blasted Baghdad's upscale Karradah district Thursday, killing 31 people and wounding 153, police said. The explosions occurred at midmorning in a religiously mixed neighbourhood controlled by a major Shiite party. Several mortars landed in the district, some destroying a bank and an apartment building that later collapsed in flames. Baqubah:

The U.S. military says gunmen opened fire on Georgian troops in Iraq today, wounding five of them. The attack took place in Khairnabat, near Ba'qubah, which is about 65 kilometers north of the capital, Baghdad. Four of the soldiers were treated for injuries and returned to duty, while another is still receiving medical care.

#1: (update) A Russian-made helicopter crashed in bad weather in eastern Afghan mountains, killing all 16 on board, including at least two American civilians and two Dutch military officers, officials said Thursday. The Dutch military said two of its officers - a lieutenant colonel from the air force and an army sergeant, both serving with a NATO-led security force - were on board.	reported previously
#2: Coalition forces in Afghanistan killed three insurgents Thursday after an ambush in the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar, the U.S. military said.	3
#3: Four policemen were killed as the militants attacked their vehicle in Jalai district at around 11:00 a.m. (0630 GMT), the official in Kandahar told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. He said another policeman was killed as militants targeted his vehicle in Loya Wala area in Kandahar city Wednesday night.	5

#1: A Turkish soldier was killed and two other security officials injured on Thursday in an explosion triggered by a landmine laid by Kurdish rebels, officials said.
