We are not aware of any source that authoritatively and consistently compiles or counts these kinds of reports. The following news links were compiled by Evan D. Today’s news search came up with 81 dead Iraqis, 53 wounded and 7 detained -- all in a single day. Also, 7 Coalition military were reported wounded.

Today's news coverage turned up only Coalition casualties in Afghanistan: 2 Coalition dead in Afghanistan, and 6 Coalition wounded -- all in a single day. (see below).

Iraqis: 81 dead, 53 wounded, 7 detained
Coalition: 7 wounded

Baghdad:

#1: Masked Shiite gunmen stopped cars in western Baghdad Sunday and grabbed people off the streets, singling out the Sunni Arabs among them and killing at least 37, police said. The attack in the Jihad neighborhood apparently was retaliation for the car bombing of a local Shiite mosque the night before. Police Lt. Maitham Abdul-Razzaq said 37 bodies were taken to hospitals and police were searching for more victims reportedly left dumped in the streets.

#2: Clashes also broke out in northwestern Baghdad between U.S. forces and members of the Mahdi army, the militia loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. Three militia members were killed, police said. The U.S. military had no immediate comment.

#3: Gunmen also opened fire on a foot patrol in eastern Baghdad, killing a policeman, police said.

#4: A mortar round hit a home in another area in Dora, wounding three children.

#5: Two car bombs that exploded near a Shi'ite mosque in northeastern Baghdad killed at least 15 people and wounded 35 on Sunday, police said. The blasts took place in the Kasra neighbourhood. No further details were immediately avialable.

#6: Nine insurgents were killed, two were wounded and seven others were detained when U.S. and Iraqi forces raided Baghdad's Sunni Kadhimiya district, the U.S. military said. Three coalition forces advisers and one Iraqi soldier were also wounded in the operation.

Karbala:

#1: gunmen killed an Iraqi intelligence officer in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, one of several deadly shootings targeting security forces.

#2: In other violence Saturday, gunmen on a motorcycle shot to death two men who were security officers during Saddam Hussein's regime as they were walking in separate locations of Karbala, police said.

Hit:

#1: Two civilians were killed when a roadside bomb went off near a U.S. patrol in Hit, 170 km (110 miles) west of Baghdad, a source in the civil defence directorate said.

Kirkuk:

#1: Another policeman was killed in a drive-by shooting in the northern city of Kirkuk.

#2: Three Iraqi soldiers were killed in a checkpoint in the northern city of Kirkuk, police said.

Mosul:

#1: Gunmen shot dead two car mechanics inside their shop in northeastern Mosul, a hospital source said.

Al- shaab

#1: An Iraqi civilian was killed and 12 others were injured Sunday due to an explosion in Al-Sha'ab neighborhood in northern Iraq, said a police source. The source added that the blast, which was near a gas station, also resulted in the damage of three civilian cars. The police are still trying to determine if the explosion was caused by an electric short fuse or a booby-trapped car. The Police primarily reports on the incident indicated the use of a booby-trapped car in the explosion.

Ramadi:

#1: Gunmen killed a member of the Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party in the rebel stronghold of Ramadi, 110km (68 miles) west of Baghdad, on Saturday, a hospital source said.

#2: Gunmen killed three policemen on Saturday in Ramadi, a hospital source said.

#3: A car bomb struck a convoy in Ramadi on Sunday, wounding four American troops, the military said. The explosion occurred near the convoy as it was headed to the government center in the insurgent-ridden city, 115 kilometers (70 miles) west of Baghdad. Four coalition forces were wounded, the military said in a statement.

AFGHANISTAN

Coalition: 2 dead, 6 wounded

#1: A Canadian soldier has been killed in a gun battle west of Kandahar City, Afghanistan, following firefights on Saturday that left two other Canadians wounded. The soldier has been identified as Cpl. Anthony Joseph Boneca, a reservist from the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment of Thunder Bay, Ont.

#2: An explosion that killed one of Spain's troops in Afghanistan was probably caused by an anti-tank mine activated by remote control, Spain's defence minister said on Sunday. The blast on Saturday hit a group of Spanish peacekeeping troops on a routine patrol. It injured four other men. The soldiers were part of a group of 33 travelling in nine armoured vehicles and were under Italian command, the ministry said in a statement. The dead man, Jorge Arnaldo Hernandez Seminario, 26, was of Peruvian origin but serving with the Spanish forces.

#1: Shi'ite militias sealed off a Shi'ite district in western Baghdad on Sunday with burning tyres and ordered residents to stay indoors, apparently in fear of reprisal attacks by Sunnis, witnesses said.

#2: Iraq's crude oil pumping from Kirkuk oil fields to Turkey's Ceyhan port has been suspended as the northern export pipeline is undergoing maintenance, the country's Oil Minister Hussein al- Shahristani said Sunday.
Shahristani, speaking at a news conference in Baghdad, said the flow is expected to resume in two to three days at an average of 400,000 b/d.

#3: Three Egyptians kidnapped in Iraq have been freed, Kuwait's private television al-Rai reported on Sunday. "They are being received by Egyptian authorities at the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border," Rai said. "The three were freed following intensive efforts by the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait." It was not immediately clear when the men were abducted. A television official identified the three, who work for an Egyptian construction firm, as Salah al-Iraqi, Hassan Ibrahim and Osama Gaweesh.

#4: A Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldier died in a non-combat related incident at approximately 2:15 a.m. this morning.
